- Access -
Forty minutes to 1 hour flight from Nairobi to Kichwa Tembo airstrip. Six hours by road. Direct flights are available to / from Diani and Mombasa.
Entrance to the Maasai Mara reserve is via Oloololo gate. Oloololo gate is a 15 minute drive from Kilima Camp.
- Activities -
4x4 game drives, day & night. Sundowner. Bush walks, tree planting, horse riding, bird watching, local school visit, bio-garden visit, local Maasai village visit, archery lessons, hot air ballooning.

2 x dining areas. BBQ, bar, library, fire place. WiFi in common area. Airstrip transfers. Curio shop. Parking. Wheelchair access to the tents but not camp entrance. Spa. Visa credit card facility. Conference venue for small groups, banquet wedding.
- Eco-activities -
Beekeeping with Kilima honey sold to clients. An organic garden with the produce used in the Kitchen. Bio-gas from horse/cow manure is used to run the Windmill, solar panal & the Kilima dam provides, self sufficient energy & water.
- Accommodation -
Gold Eco-friendly tented camp, luxurious tented camp, renovated in 2019 & 2020. 12 Classic tents (70m² including veranda) & 3 Deluxe tents (75-85m² including veranda).
Some Classic tents can accommodate 2 adults & 2 children below 12yrs. Deluxe Family tent can accommodate 2 adults & 2 children plus infant – possibility to add an extra bed – subject to availability.
All tents have a terrace with stunning views over the Mara plains. They all have en-suite bathroom with flushed toilets & hot running shower.
- Weather -
Temperatures can be chilly at night & early morning. Heating up during the day to up to 32 degrees in the hot season (December - February).
- When to visit -
The Mara is superb to visit all year round. Dry season is between December - February. Rainy season in April & May.
- Community -
The Eco-tourism Kenya has awarded a Gold Medal it to Kilima Camp in July 2018. The Eco-friendly camp performed well in most of the assessment criteria: efforts to reduce the facility’s ecological footprint by design and forestation, extensive use of solar energy, water conservation & having clear benefits to the local community including supporting the Maasai cultural village.
